Florida State University (FSU) is having an event called Shaped By Society. This is being put on by the FSU School of Dance College of the Fine Arts program (FSU Dance). This work is the thesis of a Dance student named Herman, who has spent five years working on his craft at FSU.

The Arts are important to us because they play a role in the development of the human state. The principals of one art form, actually usually crosses over into another art form. Dance is an art, and can be found in even the most popular music forms today. It is surprising to some people but there are dancers in these styles that have training from formal Dance schools. Without many of these dancers the visions of the artist in their music videos and other performances would probably be a bit more dull.

The applications of Dance are very wide spread and can be even found in marital arts. Many martial arts cultures & synergized their arts with Dance. While they may become less effective for their primary role, expressed through the medium of Dance many principals and cultural expressions carry on while past the demise of the martial art. Many movies would not be as popular today without the expression of Dance.

Its easy to take dance for granted, like music its so common in our lives. However it is wise to stop and take some time to support the art in its purer form, from time to time.

Even if you can’t come to the event. I hope you’ll stick around for the updates on this page.

The 3 works that make Shaped by Society, look at the aspects of dance within American capitalism that have heavily influenced Herman’s current choreographic aesthetic and training. FSU movers with and without dance seeking degrees are asked to provide a dynamic mixture of precision choreography, emotional duress, and breakdance.
