performance Preparation #5 : Absolute Zero September 5th – September 05, 2015 – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – Blog 5 Here is the next installment of my daily blog, leading up the ILoveMakonnen show on the 17th. Look at the previous installments before you start reading this one. Performance preparation blog(s): Absolute Zero Yesterday was drive all day, kinda day. Eight hours of road, sun, rain, and NPR. That was the order of the day and I didn’t deviate from it that much. I have made that drive over a dozen times from Miami to Tallahassee and this had to be one of the most pleasant drives. There were just a few moments where I was driving and the scenery was breathtaking. For example somewhere in central Florida the clouds were in a stack. The strange and beautiful thing is that the clouds were pink and blue colors. They seemed to have the character of a painting canvassed onto the sky. It really felt like a psychedelic experience. I likely will still have no internet by the time I get back in town. Its all good though, My internet being down gave me the opportunity work out. Especially at one of my favorite spots in town, Arcade Odyssey. I was actually proud of myself. I got a surprising amount of work done. I finished an article for the YouAuthorus site, and was even able to knock out a Personal Preparation log (like the one your reading now). There is something about being in an environment that you love, that somehow brings the best out of you. I felt like I really did good work. I even rewarded myself with a solo queue game. Doing any type of music tour involves a lot of busy work. My trip to Tallahassee to open for ILoveMakonnen is going to be no exception. First I had to buy two new front tires for my car. Which of course come with all of the normal frustrations and fears of going to the mechanic. They kind of just tell you everything that’s wrong with your car. “Give us all the moneys now“. That’s not a typo, Francs, Yen, Pesos, they take it all. I finally feel like we are at the point where the recognition is starting to come. I’m going to take this chance and make the most of it. Performance Preparation # 2: Absolute Zero September 2nd SEPTEMBER 03, 2015 Here is the next installment of my daily blog leading up the ILoveMakonnen show on the 17th. Look at the previous installments before you start reading this one. Personal Preparartion # 1 So, today I met with RJ from youauthorus.com . He was flipping out about this Ilovemakonnen spot. He was telling me I need to cash out on this opportunity. He said to me “with music you never know when another opportunity like this. Opening up for ILoveMakonnen is huge, you never know when the next shot like this is going to come around.“I couldn’t help feeling more than a little disappointed to hear him say that. Not because what he was saying was in any way wrong, but because I would love capitalize(love to cash out as Rj likes to say)on this opportunity. This show is likely going to have the highest attendance of any show I’ve done so far. Any opportunity to make some money off this will only help me out in the future. September 1, 2015 Performance preparation blog: Absolute Zero — Ok, so I had a crazy day today. A month removed from living in Tallahassee, Florida.I was adjusting back to Miami style and now I found myself purchasing a bus ticket back to Tally. I actually had one last show to do with my soon to be disbanded psychedelic blues, hip-hop, funk band Blind Math. We were to perform at Bread and Roses Sunday September 6th for Tallahassee’s Rotten Fest. You can still buy tickets at rottenfest.com . I expected to spend a weekend in Tallahassee and then return to Miami. It should have been nothing special come in, get out. The trip had immediately become more complicated when I found out that I couldn’t just spend the weekend because I got a last minute opportunity to open for Cakes Da Killa. I personally really fuck with Cakes. So I feel like it was an amazing opportunity to be able to open for him on Thursday, the 10th in Club Down Under at FSU. Cool, I love that venue and they’ve always treated me well. They pay you some money and buy you good good, so it’s all good. So, right Read More…
