Makonnen went on and I will say a two things stood out, off rip. Makonnen lost a lot of weight which helped him move around a lot without loosing his breath. Two, he had his own sound engineer and his vocals sounded good as fuck. I got the impression that the sound guys either 1) didn’t care that much about hip hop and weren’t giving it there best effort or 2) were not familiar enough with hip-hop to get us sounding better. I felt like the second acts sound clarity was unexcusably bad at points. Makonnen using the same mic sounded way clearer and the music was playing much louder which makes a difference cause the venue was huge.To continue though Makonnen’s set was hype as fuck even though I was tired as hell(I woke up 9 AM and was working all day).
Towards the end of the show I had to scramble though. Makonnen said on stage that he might roll out to an after part and we were in fact throwing an after party. The only problem was we hadn’t set up the music and the DJ left the mixer at Suchaloser’s house. So after speeding to get the sound equipment we rushed to set everything up.
Unfortunately Makonnen didn’t show up, but I’m going to make a quick shout out to groupies. I think this trip really reinforced the fact that when your a musician and you perform on stage, women like you better. Girls were kind of going crazy at this show and I would like too thank all of the beautiful women who came out that night. They defiantly were the ones out there buying our merchandise.
