Mixing 1 ) Engineering Mixing is the process of taking all the individual elements of a song or instrumental and forming them together into something that sounds good. Often times sound engineers try to give each instrument its own space in the mix and make sure that elements don’t overlap each other. This is more of an art than a science. A good mix is very subjective and depending on the genre of music you’re mixing for there is a different set of standards for what constitutes a good mix. 2 ) DJing In DJing, mixing generally referrers to blending multiple songs together and playing them out at the same time on the live mix. Mike’s Thoughts – Synthesizer There are some terms that me and other people in music use to describe music. RJ told me I should explain these terms for everyone so I’m going to be explaining a few of them for you. A “synthesizer” or “synth” is a term for an electronic music instrument.
Bboying For The Passion I wish B-Boys got a bit more attention then they do at the moment. B-boys have taken the elements of gymnastics to an extremely high level. They often do these amazing dance moves without facilities or dedicated trainers. I know that the scene has been growing slowly, but people are missing out amazing entertainment. Mike’s Thoughts: Console Gaming For the first time in my life, I can say I would rather not have a current generation console than the money. Nothing is that captivating on console for me at the moment. Games like Fallout 4, and Metal Gear Phantom Pain got PC releases. So I’m likely just better off upgrading my PC. –
Mike’s Thoughts: Learning to DJ Learning how to DJ taught me more about hip-hop than anything. There’s something special about having a tactile response with the music. The act of manipulating a record is so physical it changes the way I interacted with music. I wasn’t just passively listening to music. I was creating something new out of a recorded track. Atmosphere – “This Lonely Rose ft. Blueprint & Aesop Rock” Rhymesayers has always been one of the dopest labels in hip-hop. They just put out a collaboration track between Atmosphere, Aesop Rock and Blueprint. These are all artists that I have great memories of listening too and they all come correct.
