The Spotlight: Music Talks Acey Ace  I first heard Ace Acey at Props and Bonds (check out my experience at Props & Bonds). I was surprised by how good he was that night. He had a great performance and I actually liked his content, so did the crowd.   – Please Play this song “Lemonade”-   When he got on stage I was not expecting much, honestly. I was just waiting until I could hear the guys I came to support such as Don Julio(see other for info).  I once again will re-iterate, I was surprised, I mean pleasantly surprised with the talent that he demonstrated. It raised the bar for the rest of the performances for me. It has also elevated my view of future performances from Props and Bonds(what I saw that night was pretty amazing, more about it here). He performed three songs, which from his album(later found out and link to it can be found at bottom support) Blue & Red. I can’t remember the third, so many stuff has happened to me since(good and bad, plus the struggle to get these articles, while getting people to do their work). So forgive me forgetting one of Read More…

Cyba – She Works So Hard – great song

| | No comments yet | Tags: , , , , ,

–       This song by Cyba, personally is amazing. I like the fusion of different styles of music and eras in the song makes it surpassing. The Soul, the Funk, the Blues, the Reggae and Hip Hop all merge so well to create a conscious, touching sound. I like good music; I don’t really have a specific type. I guess… I just like for the music to have soul, if I really think about it.

Kraz, and how about I get the juice

Kraz, and how about I get the juice   Honestly I don’t know alot about Kraz, I more or less stumbled unto him on Facebook. I heard his song ” I Got The Juice” , and thought it was a good song. To be honest, if I didn’t read that Kraz was from New York, I would have sworn he was a southern rapper. I don’t have a problem with this, some people seem to excessively hate this trend. Why, well there is alot of reasons, if you are rapping for money as your drive then it makes sense to orient with what is hot. It doesn’t make sense to get mad about it but then love Jay-Z(or loved Jay-Z until the recent cool down).

Backpack Beatz – Mochilla – Album Review

Backpack Beatz – Mochilla – Album Review   Backpack Beatz released his first rap album under his current name “Mochilla”. For any of you Spanish speakers you will notice that the title is spanish for backpack. Backpack takes the word and pronounces it “Moe – Chill – A”. This goes a long way towards describing the somber feeling of the album. Backpack Beatz is a Producer/ Rapper/DJ from Pensacola, Florida. The first time I met Backpack was in 2011. At that time he was rapping under the name “Livin Proof” and producing under Backpack Beatz. I heard his first released at that time, a project called “Ramen and Fruit Punch“. Backpack produced this entire album himself. You can easily compare him to other producer/rappers such as Kanye West, Big K.R.I.T. , and J. Cole.

Top 6 Robson Pires song until Album Release, Song 1

Robson-journey to the center and keep you forever — Impression of all of Robson’s Tracks   I am going to write my ultimate impression from listening to Robson’s Tracks. I have listened to his singles and I have told my feelings about them each time. That doesn’t mean because I like something as a single or in singles that I share similar feelings about it as a whole. In fact many times people are surprised about my conclusions. They would assume that because I like something, I like everything about it and it has no flaws. That is very rare for me, as usually I am told “you rate too hard”. Now, maybe because I’ve only been sleeping an average of 3 hours a day(lucky week), It’s possible that my judgement might be slightly impaired. I really don’t believe that to be the case when it comes to good music, below is my original impressions.   I actually like this performance alot. It doesn’t fully capture, how good Robson is in person. I will be getting this album, because I really like the music. I really like that the lyrics to his songs actually makes sense. A lot songs have Read More…

Travis Scott – Piss On Your Grave (feat. Kanye West) (Official Video) – Travis Scott released a new video for his third single off of his debut album Rodeo. The single entitled “Piss on Your Grave” features Kanye West . Kanye has been going down a bad path for a long time now. I have a lot to say here, so I am going to break down this article in into three sections. I’m going to go into detail about the quality of the song and the music video. After that I’ll look at the big picture for Kanye West in terms of his music legacy. —

Album Review – Raury – All We Need

| | No comments yet | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

I’m not going to lie, nothing on this tape really grabbed me. Don’t misunderstand me, I’m not saying that the music was terrible. Raury had an interesting sound, but nothing about his lyrics or performance made me want to listen to the record again after the first few listens. But I did come away with the thought that Raury had a lot of potential. So coming into this project my hopes were that Raury would have refined his sound a bit more, as well as improve his lyricism.

Quick Artist Introduction to Robson

The Amazing and Humble Singer Robson Pires Robson Pires is a musician I heard perform at a place named Artistic Vibes(an amazing talent filled place). I went there with Absolute Zero. Basically do the things  he could not do, if the situation called for it. I was going to perform some of my poetry; I had not been on a stage in a long time. Unbeknownst to me, I sat in front of two eventful artists. One was a person named Manny, he is quite the poet. The other was the person who I am writing about today, Robson.     Robson is a very quiet and humble guy, he’s seemingly a gentle kind of quiet. I can relate to that, however for me I try not to be quiet too often. I’ve tend to put people on edge, because I have a vibe like a Huey or Spock (from Star Trek). However I can say that Robson’s, quiet and gentle demeanor really aides him because it makes the impact of his music even more powerful. When he played the song “Keep You Forever“, it was one of the best songs that I have heard someone perform in my Read More…

Atmosphere – “This Lonely Rose ft. Blueprint & Aesop Rock”   Rhymesayers has always been one of the dopest labels in hip-hop. They just put out a collaboration track between Atmosphere, Aesop Rock and Blueprint. These are all artists that I have great memories of listening too and they all come correct. I’ll be making a post on Rhymesayers soon.     –New Dilla is Coming, but Should We ? –Why Half the Crowd Left a Kendrick Lamar Concert ? –Backpack Beatz – Mochilla – Album Review(Coming Soon 11/14) -Music Thoughts –  The Legacy of Rhymesayer(Coming Soon 11/17)

MusicTalks, is MF Doom’s lack of social media skills helping or hurting him

| | No comments yet | Tags: , , , , , , , ,

Music Talks podcast 1 segment: Is MF Doom’s lack of social media skills helping or hurting him as an artist. — In this segment of Musictalks we go over, is MF Doom’s current market practices actually helpful or hurtful. Absolute Zero wanted to attend one of his concerts and could not because by the time he had found out about it the concert was finished. This is not new, however in the past I have heard a few argue that Doom’s lack of marketing is what makes him sell more. Other things to be discusses is other antics or things MF Doom has done in the past, has this hurt his brand. Does these things compound to in the long run destroy Doom’s career. Its an interesting talk, be sure to listen, hope you enjoy.

Mac Miller – GO:OD AM – Album Review

| | No comments yet | Tags: , , , , , ,

Today we will look at  Mac Miller’s project GO:OD AM. The tile which can read either  good AM or go O.D. AM. This is a very fitting title for project. As the project is filled with down tempo, and dreamy reverb soaked sounds. The whole project feels like your either falling asleep or just waking up stuck in the twilight. Either that or you get the feeling that your wide awake and your world is slowing down due to the drugs you’ve just taken, which is something that Mac Miller isn’t shy to reference.

New Dilla is Coming, but Should We ?

| | No comments yet | Tags: , , ,

Dillatronic drops October 30th. Dillatronic, for all of you that don’t know is a new postmortem instrumental album from now legendary producer J Dilla. Ma Dukes ( J Dilla’s Mother) and Vintage Vibez Music Group are putting together various packages to release these new instrumentals to the public. I have mixed feelings about this project. I love J Dilla he is definitely in my top five favorite hip-hop producers of all time. On the one hand I’m thinking, I would love to get more Dilla. Its temping to think that if some Dilla is good than more must be better. On the other hand J Dilla died in 2006, and since his death his catalog of unreleased instrumentals have been mined by various artists. To illustrate this I want to list for all of the new projects, re-releases, and remix albums that have been released in Dilla’s name since 2006.
