Music Talks Rj Response to Kanye West Piss on Grave questions         Music Talks, Rj Response to Kanye West Piss on your Grave Article, written by Absolute Zero -This is actually a re-visiting of the original podcast questions that was asked. I was really tired when I did it. I felt that I could’ve been a bit more focused, so I re-did it. I will later put the link to the original so you can listen to it. -Question 1: What is Slavery Does Kanye West use the term correctly in his music -Question 2: Is Kanye West encouraging anger towards executives -Question 3: should Phil Knight have returned Kanye West’s phone calls? Is he losing anything by ignoring Kanye? -Question 4: Hip Hop has a lot of “Lifestyle rappers” glorifying a high luxury lifestyle. Does this incentivize people to work harder so they can have these things? Does it hurt people?

Juicy J – “Ain’t Fukin Wit Cha Ft. Logic“   We have a new track from Juicy J that features an unlikely pairing. We see Logic on the track delivering braggadocios rhymes. A departure from he normal conscious direction, he still manages to deliver a dope verse.

Freddie Gibbs – Fuckin’ Up The Count – Track Review

| | No comments yet | Tags: , , , , , , ,

Freddie Gibbs …is Back I know it hasn’t been too long since Gibbs’ last LP “Cocaine Pinata“, released in 2014. This project was produced entirely by Madlib, my all time favorite producer . Madlib brought a fusion of psychedelic and blaxploitation inspired instrumentals. Freddie Gibbs brought rhymes reminiscent of Tupac and Scarface(who appears on this album). Bringing their skills together the album was almost flawless. With Gibbs setting such a high bar on his last project . I was more than a bit nervous to listen to his lead single for his next full length record.

Is Chance The Rapper Losing Promoting Radio ?

| | No comments yet | Tags: , , , , , ,

I was watching the new Chance the Rapper performance  of “Angels” featuring Saba on Stephen Colbert’s late night show. I’ve been writing a lot about alternative rappers like Kendrick Lamar, who have been struggling with the radio audience. Since Chance is also an alternative act, I was shocked to see him promoting radio. This is especially true considering its a platform artists like him have struggled on in recent years.  I don’t think this is a good direction for Chance. He worked the lyrics of the track he performed into support for radio stations with complimentary visual gimmicks. Although the performance was creative and well executed, I’m going to explain why Chance the Rapper should not be promoting local radio anymore.

Why Half the Crowd Left a Kendrick Lamar Concert and What that Says About Rap Radio?

| | No comments yet | Tags: , , , , , , ,

Thursday, October 22, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn we had the Power 105’s Powerhouse Concert. The show featured a lot of incredibly popular radio acts such as Meek Mill, Fetty Wap, Big Sean, Rick Ross, and Future. They also had R&B acts (yes those still exist) such as Jidenna, Omarion, and Jeremih performing . The one act there that I haven’t mentioned as of yet that doesn’t fit in this line up, Kendrick Lamar.  Kendrick Lamar was the top billed headliner for this event. Related Post:Why Can’t the Biggest Sellers in Hip-Hop top the Hip-Hop Charts(coming soon) Kendrick was the closer for this show. He performed after Future, who performed to a packed stadium. Surprisingly people chose to leave the stadium in the thousands rather than stay for Kendrick’s performance.  By the time Kendrick made it onto the stage half of the audience was gone. Why, did this happen?
